i was just thinking the other day how small our family is now that we aren't jw's.
we are thankful that we at least have our children!
my husband lost his mom and dad and only sister and her husband and all their children.
My mom and only sister. Not completely yet, but they did say it would be different, whatever the hell that means? I suppose if we lived closer than 22 hours by car apart, I would see a difference. If I got DF'd or DA'd myself, I wouldn't tell them.
Also one of my best friends I grew up with hasn’t talked to me since I told him EVERYTHING. I should have...
the obvious answer to that is: yes!
jwn has a number of former elders who awakened to ttatt while they held their position, and a handful of current elders who help provide needed intel.. .
later, i learned he and his wife had faded, and both of his grown sons know ttatt as well.. .
And yet if they had frequently contacted you, we'd be hearing an angry rant over how they wouldn't leave you alone ;)

i am not particularly interested in the wtbts and their current doings.
or doctrine, or debates about god/evolution.
i am more interested in people, especially ex-jws like me.
and make sure you pay all fees and taxes. Not doing so can really bite you in the ass.
Yeah. Hopefully I can learn from the mistakes of others without making them myself. They had VERY extravagant lives from what I heard and saw. Many motorcycles, a Corvette and Cobra Mustang were always being flaunted at the shop. They also took vacations ever 6 to 7 weeks. No business sense.

I've heard of fading but not of "leaving no trace behind". What specifically do these faders do to 'leave no trace behind'?
For me, I "faded" for about 2 months before I abruptly left. I couldn’t live the lie anymore. I didn’t know about fading until after I left. I didn’t know how bad it all could have gone until I started lurking here a few weeks after I left.
I truly saw the “love” they had for me when I left. A couple of months passed when an elder called me to see if I wanted to go out in service that weekend. I told him I couldn’t make it. Then about 6 months after that another elder called me and asked what was going on with me. I told him how I felt. I told him I no longer believed in God, Jesus and that I wanted NOTHING to do with this or any other religion. I told him I was an Atheist. This was about 8 months ago. I told him that no Jehovah’s Witness has/had any authority over me after he went into his spiel about my “dedication” to Jehovah and the organization. I said “Neither you, nor any elder, nor Jesus has any authority over me.” Those 2 times were the only times ANYONE tried to reach out to me.
Maybe, even for those who DO believe in god after they leave, should tell the elders – if they ask – that they don’t believe in god anymore? Maybe that’s the “key” to a successful fade? Either that, or these piece of shit elders in my hall didn’t/don’t give a hoot about anyone and made a “token” call to reach out to me? Either way I’ve never been happier being out. Especially now with my wife being mentally out too. I don't know about NOT leaving any trace behind, but it kinda feels like I didn't leave MUCH of a trace behind.
I have never since been contacted to come in for a meeting. If I ever felt I was in danger...lol... of being DF'd, I would send in a DA letter to beat them to the punch...

6 weeks ago tomorrow I was fired for the first time EVER in my life! It was for the best though.
Last August I started my own company with a business partner while we both worked full time for an employer in the same industry. I am in the asbestos abatement, mold, lead and methamphetamine demolition/cleanup industry –really any hazardous material cleanup. We primarily do insurance work after a fire or flood. We also do a lot of work for contractors remodeling older homes and buildings.
It was a slow start. From August to December we only did 2 jobs. We were trying to get our name out there without stealing clients from my then employer. One thing lead to another and in January my then employer found out about my company and pulled the permits. He then saw our names on them and called us into a meeting. He first fired my business partner, then me. We were planning on putting out 2 week notice in, but not for another 4 weeks or so. But it put a fire under our asses to get more work. It also allowed us to focus 100% on OUR company.
Last week we signed a contract for a big job starting in about a week. We will be able to employ ourselves and 10 to 14 other workers with just this one contract for a number of months. Also there is another contractor giving us all his work that he can’t handle. It’s all working out better than we could have foreseen. We are also getting calls from the marketing we’ve been doing.
My business partner was an office manager for the company we were fired from, so I knew more about what was happening behind the scenes than I probably should have. They owe a lot of money to other contractors and supply companies as well as the IRS. They are behind in paying their payroll taxes. The IRS put a lean on their accounts. Both my partner and I would be surprised if their open for another 6 months.
I have been in this industry for 10 years now and everything is paying off.

well on wednesday i am going to be getting my first tattoo.
i have had this particular piece of art that i have wanted for years but was too afraid to put it to skin as it will require a great amount of detail.
but i finally decided to go for it.
Yeah, I never did think about it but I can' t think of any in my immediate family that have tattoos besides me and my brother. My mom and dad don't have any. They are 61 and 62. I don't think any of their brothers or sisters have any either.

I got my first tattoo in October. Its the infinity symbol with my wife, and kids names intertwined in it. Unless I wear long sleeves its always out. Im thinking about getting one or both sleeves. Once you get one, you will want more. Thats what I was told and yes its true.
Its on the inside or my forearm between my wrist and elbow. Im thinkin of getting more added to it. It wasnt painful, but the one thing I wasn't prepared for was how much it ITCHED for a week.
